Quality Engineer

Position Summary:
LEDdynamics is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to lead quality assurance activities, maintain and improve our Quality Management System (QMS), and drive continuous improvement across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier operations.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys spending time on the production floor, solving root-cause issues, implementing corrective actions, and building systems that improve product quality, reliability, and operational performance. The successful candidate will work closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure products consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Product Quality:
  • Lead investigations of product, process, and supplier quality issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and FMEA.
  • Develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support incoming inspection, in-process quality controls, and final product verification activities.
  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and drive measurable improvements in yield, defects, and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in product development and engineering change activities to ensure quality requirements are incorporated early in the design process.

Quality Management System (QMS):
  • Maintain and continuously improve the company’s Quality Management System.
  • Manage quality procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and document control processes.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure ongoing compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain quality metrics, KPIs, and management review reporting.
  • Ensure effective implementation and closure of corrective action programs.

Manufacturing & Operations Support:
  • Partner closely with production personnel to identify and eliminate sources of defects and variation.
  • Develop inspection plans, control plans, and quality standards for manufacturing processes.
  • Support manufacturing process validation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Train employees on quality procedures, inspection techniques, and best practices.
  • Act as a quality resource on the production floor and assist with resolving day-to-day manufacturing challenges.

Supplier Quality:
  • Support supplier qualification, evaluation, and performance monitoring activities.
  • Work directly with suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Review supplier quality data and drive improvements in incoming material quality.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 3-8 years of experience in a Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Quality Systems role.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA, process improvement, and statistical problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.
  • Comfortable working in both office and production floor environments.

Preferred:
  • Experience in electronics, LED lighting, power electronics, or electromechanical manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Experience with supplier quality management.
  • Working knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), MSA, FMEA, and process validation.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or related certification.
